Jefferson Pierce, known as Black Lightning, is a DC Comics character featured in The CW television series Black Lightning. He first appeared in the show's pilot episode.
Pierce is a retired superhero and principal of Garfield High School in Freeland, a city plagued by gang violence. He initially abandoned his vigilante persona to protect his family, but is forced to return to action when the city's crime rates escalate and his daughters, Anissa and Jennifer, develop superpowers.
